The Ambition Story

Ambition Racing was established with the vision of nurturing student-athletes who strive for excellence both on and off the slopes. Recognising the unique challenges faced by young skiers, the programme was designed to integrate rigorous academic learning with world-class ski training.

Set up in 2007, Ambition Racing was initially based in Bormio, Italy with a team of 4 coaches and 24 athletes.

Dedication
Showing up day in, day out with commitment, determination & knowledge that only we are responsible for doing the work to achieve our goals. Hard work beats talent, when talent doesn’t work hard.
Connection
We strive to build deep connection & long-lasting communities within the team, to truly make Ambition a home from home, for all involved.
Innovation
We are excited by progress, development & improvement across all areas of the team, with each member challenged to think outside of the box and strive to stay one step ahead of the game.

From Day One

Ambition Racing began with a bold vision to transform competitive skiing. Featuring 8-week FIS and Children’s core programmes, with extra weeks for committed athletes, it united parents, coaches, and athletes to pursue shared goals from day one.

The Core Programme, designed for consistency in coaching and peer groups while balancing training and competition, quickly became a success. This structure is now the standard across many UK ski clubs and academies.

In 2009, Ambition Racing launched Southern Hemisphere camps to offer year-round training opportunities. Locations such as the Chilean Andes and Queenstown, New Zealand provide cutting-edge environments for athletes. This initiative solidified Ambition Racing’s leadership within the world of alpine programming.

The Full-Time Programme

The Full-Time Programme was launched in 2010, marking a pivotal moment in elite athlete development. When the existing British Development Team was disbanded, Ambition stepped in to fill the void & with the aim of providing a clear pathway and smooth transition from school aged racer to full time athlete. The academic programme evolved concurrently from a winter-only schedule to include the Autumn months also.

The Next Big Step...

The next transformative milestone arrived in 2011, when the academy was relocated to Leogang, Austria, with the purchase of our very own training base; Haus Tirol.

By 2015, Ambition Racing took another significant step forward by establishing the Ambition Childrens Championships – a series of Childrens races, held at our home training base. These BASS (British Alpine Seeding System) competitions were tailored specifically for athletes aged U16 and below. Over time, they have become pivotal selection races for GB Snowsport, shaping the future of the British Children’s Ski Team (BCST).

Continued Expansion

In 2018, as the Ambition Childrens Championships continued to thrive, a new addition was introduced to the UK competition calendar: the Ambition Club National weekend. This event further enhanced both our domestic reach & the UK racing scene. Concurrently, the Ambition FIS Series was launched, taking place at renowned alpine venues such as Pass Thurn and Hinterreit, solidifying our presence within Austria also.

A Full Transformation

In 2021, Haus Tirol embarked on a journey of transformation when initial plans to update both the functional fitness style gym & also the athlete social areas. What began as a modest three-space project soon evolved into an ambitious, comprehensive renovation that spanned the summer of 2022. The result was a complete makeover of Haus Tirol, turning it into a state-of-the-art training base. The refurbishment included modernized bedrooms and bathrooms, a brand-new kitchen and dining area, and newly designed wellness and recovery spaces tailored to meet the needs of elite athletes.

An Unrivalled Position

In 2024, Ambition marked a significant milestone in its nearly two-decade-long history as Hinterreit appointed founder and programme director Marc Telling as their new training venue coordinator. This prestigious role, rarely granted to non-Austrian residents, has further cemented Ambition’s local relationships and established it as a leader among UK academies with the unique ability to tailor training conditions precisely to the team’s needs.
